My supersenior Kitty has just been diagnosed with CKD, some anemia and joint pains. She would not allow any vet to touch her so I had to give her gabapentin before her vet visit and it worked well. Her main symptoms is drinking lots of water and frequent urination. Also bad smell from her mouth. Pretty much standard. There is no protein spillover so she does not need any meds. Just water and CKD diet at the moment. And also hundreds of puppy liners. I have found lots of useful info here. Thx a lot.
Was told too much wet food will cause tartar build up on teeth, so he only gets wet food twice a week. My cat will not stand for teeth brushing😁 now I’m hearing something different. What is best for my senior cat.
I always feed my cats wet canned food. I even bought them a water fountain and they drink more water than when they were drinking from a bowl. I don’t give them flea medicine anymore either. They never go outside. The only shot they get is a rabies shot because they said that according to the law all pets must have a rabies shot so that’s all they get. I feed my cats chicken and turkey wet food. The only test I had done on my two senior cats was a senior panel to make sure that they didn’t have that thyroid problem. It was a really expensive test about $900.00 for both cats. Luckily they were both healthy. No thyroid or kidney issues. 👍🏻 Seems like my cats have been peeing a lot lately. Is it because they are drinking more water? I just hope they don’t have diabetes or some other kidney issue. Also one of my older cats has been throwing up hairballs lately. So I bought them this treat that was for hairballs. Does that help? I even bought them some cat grass because I read that it was good for their digestion. I bought the seeds and grew it myself. I think it’s oat grass. They really liked it. What would be good to give cats to keep them from throwing up? One time my vet gave me this paste to give my cat to help him digest the hair ball. Luckily it was chicken flavored.
Thanks for the tip on the calcium carbonate for lowering the phosphorus in cats.
I’m worried my cat will lick off the diatomaceous earth and it will hurt his gut. Does this not happen?
